  Enabling families

This is a touching story about a poor and indigent family from a remote area of Hundur Yasin, District Ghizer. The family is comprised of seven girls. Their father passed away five years ago in an accident. This was a catastrophe for the entire family as there was no one to feed them, no income source and not enough cultivable land for farming. The family lives in anguish and deplorable conditions.

The children are between six and forty years of age. Due to abject poverty, the girls couldn’t get education, so all the older girls are illiterate. The older girls have crossed their age of marriage, and are still unmarried.

Seeing the plight of this family, four sisters are now housed at the CEENA’s Orphanage. Two younger children, Jamila and Diana are pursuing their education there.  One girl is mentally retarded; she has been admitted to school for Special Children to rehabilitate her. The other sister has been employed at CEENA’s Orphanage to enable her to earn some money for her family and be closer to the special needs sister.

As a result of their impoverished condition, the older girls couldn’t get married primarily due to their economic and educational background. Recently CEENA extended a helping hand for the remaining sisters by providing them sewing machines and opening a tailoring shop to enable them to earn some income for their family. In addition, CEENA is also looking for some other options to get this family out of poverty.

Through helping to helpless, CEENA is making a difference in lives of so many. It’s our hope that they will foresee a bright future in the days ahead.
