  Healing the deprived

This is a story of child who lost her conscious and became mentally challenged as a result of severe tragic incident of the demise of her beloved father and mother. She was too young and quite normal before this traumatic incident took place and could not bear this irreparable loss and became mentally upset.

Farzana belongs to an indigent family comprising of seven girls. Suffering from abject poverty; lack of the very basic necessities of life, support and supervision, the survival of the family was a disheartening task. All her sisters remained illiterate as they couldn’t afford the school fee and educational expenses.

Compounded by all these factors, the mental condition of Farzana deteriorated day by day. Instead of providing proper care and supplementing the paternal and maternal love and affection, her sisters treated her as a burden.

CEENA being a responsive and community based welfare organization did not remain silent and set out to bring this family out of their grim situation. Farzana along with two younger sisters were brought to CEENA and admitted in school. When she came to CEENA, she was so weak and desperate that she was even unable to pick her meal and take care of her cleanliness. Now she has shown significant improvement as a result of proper therapy, treatment and meticulous efforts. She’s now attending the school for Special People. In addition to education, she is also taught the social, house-hold and other skills to enable her to lead a normal life. Now she’s steadily recovering and hopefully she will join the mainstream.
